The works in the treatment plant will affect the traffic entering Santa Cruz through the TF-5

The expansion works of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife treatment plant will affect access to the city from the TF-5, the city council said in a statement.

As of next Sunday afternoon, this phase of the works in the treatment plant, which is expected to be completed in the first half of September, will begin to affect the circulation of access to the capital with the first signaling works.

Thus, circulation will be modified as the access lanes to the Northern highway (TF-5) closest to the Refinery will have to be closed.

It will also be necessary to suppress the downward direction of Manuel Hermoso Rojas avenue, from its intersection with the aforementioned (TF-5) and Álvaro Rodríguez López street, at least up to the area of Clara Campoamor street.

This last route will only have a downward direction to facilitate the relief of traffic at that point.

As an additional security measure, the installation of temporary traffic lights and the presence of Local Police officers are planned, especially during the first days of all these modifications.

Regarding the rearrangement during this first phase, which will end at the end of July, it has been proposed that the vehicles coming from the (TF-5) use Álvaro Rodríguez López street to their destination, or that they subsequently join the Manuel Hermoso Rojas avenue from that road and using Clara Campoamor street.

Traffic coming from the Buenos Aires neighborhood will access the city from the interior lanes of the (TF-5) not affected by the works and will be able to take the route already indicated above.

It has been planned to facilitate the necessary access to the Refinery facilities through the works area.

The entire affected area will have mandatory circumstantial signage to inform of the cuts, alternative routes and other indications for drivers and pedestrians.

The second phase is scheduled to take place during the month of August and also has a specific traffic plan that makes it possible to make the work compatible with the movement of vehicles.

Finally, the third phase will be carried out between August and the first half of September with the aim that at the beginning of the next school year and the return of the summer period the effects on city traffic are as little as possible.
