SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 3 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de La Gomera has awarded the accessibility and improvement project to the population centers located in the Barranco de Santiago basin, belonging to the municipalities of Alajeró and San Sebastián, an integral action to which more than 2.1 million euros and which will make it possible to adapt the more than six kilometers of highway that connects the GM-3 with Pastrana, Guarimiar, El Rumbazo, Taco and El Cabezo.
The area of action extends from the junction with the GM-3, through the only road that connects these hamlets and that allows access to these population centers. Thus, works will be carried out both on the CV-20, which links Playa de Santiago with Pastrana, and on the CV-22, which allows access to the Barranco de Guarimiar.
The acting president, Casimiro Curbelo, emphasized the importance of these actions to correct the deficiencies currently presented by accessibility to these population centers. “It has been a vindication of the citizens of all this environment that the municipalities of Alajeró and San Sebastián share, that now with the execution of the works they will see improved security to reach their homes,” he said.
Among the planned works, support walls for slopes and sidings will be placed, the pavement will be improved, lateral protection elements will be installed to prevent the risk of vehicles leaving in areas with steep slopes, the creation of construction manholes transversal drainage, adaptation of the vehicle containment system, construction of mixed barriers of Scots pine wood and steel, and the corresponding roadside marking.
