SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 5 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has signed a collaboration agreement with the Association for the Improvement of the Environment and the Transition to Renewable Energies (Asmaer), to inform, raise awareness about energy saving, sustainability and renewable energies.
The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, points out in a note that through this line of collaboration different activities will be promoted in schools on the island attached to the Cuento contigo campaign, of the ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’ program, dependent of Sinpromi, to sensitize students and teachers.
In the educational centers, the development of talks and workshops is planned, as well as the dissemination of educational material, reports the Cabildo in a note.
Gugliotta also indicates that, in parallel, actions aimed at the insular associative fabric will be promoted, through specific activities for voluntary entities, volunteers, families who use these entities and society in general.
The Asmaer association emphasizes that its main purpose is to disseminate and train practices aimed at improving the environment and transition to renewable energy.
Through this agreement, the content of its ‘Zero Energy Poverty’ campaign, jointly between Asmaer and the ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’ program, will be brought to entities and the educational community, “with the aim of promoting a culture of energy saving and a more efficient management of renewable and accessible energy as a means to combat energy deficiencies in homes”.
The campaign highlights that it is linked to compliance with the provisions of the 2030 Agenda, through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To this end, the counselor points out, “issues will be addressed on how to save energy in the home, how to cook, how to use the washing machine, lighting, the use of hot water, household appliances, among other tips and recommendations to promote optimal management of the energy consumption in homes and promote changes in the consumption habits of families”.
These actions will be targeted especially at families in vulnerable situations to help them reduce consumption, as well as provide information on different resources and services, such as energy social bonds.
For the CEO, “it is essential to promote education in fundamental values of sustainability and renewable energy and to raise public awareness about it.”
Thus it indicates that “through the entities, the town halls and the different social agents interested in participating in this campaign will be informed, in order to promote corporate volunteering actions with companies, municipalities and other entities.”
