The City Council of La Laguna concluded yesterday the remodeling works of the Islas Canarias sports hall, in Finca España. After an intervention that began on March 13, and which has involved an investment of 150,334 euros, the venue will reopen its doors for both professional and amateur sports practice.
The works consisted of removing the old synthetic flooring and replacing it with parquet with an elastic base in an area of 1,500 square metres. Subsequently, the playing lines for central handball-indoor soccer courts were painted, specifically for handball and another for volleyball, as well as three cross-sectional basketball courts and another three for volleyball training.
A new set of regulatory handball-indoor soccer goals and a structure of dividing curtains have also been placed to adjust them to the new layout of the lines. Likewise, an intervention has been carried out to adjust the affected door leaves to the new height of the pavement and the execution of small ramps.
Parallel to the renovation of the parquet, the Works and Infrastructures area has carried out the repair of the roof of the pavilion, which has been sealed around the perimeter in order to prevent leaks and humidity.
This intervention responds to the demand of the clubs that regularly make use of this space, who have been demanding the improvement of this infrastructure to be able to carry out their training sessions and play their matches in optimal conditions.
The project has been carried out jointly between the Works area and the Autonomous Sports Organization, which has provided the necessary technical needs for the practice of the different disciplines that take place in the Canary Islands and has kept in touch with the clubs to inform them of the jobs and provide them with alternatives in other facilities both for training and for competing.
