The Department of Education and Culture of La Orotava publishes another series of plates on great villeros and illustrious figures who stand out in the scientific, historical, artistic, literary, cinematographic, musical or journalistic field. These are characters that are part of local history and that have made La Orotava famous.
This project allows, in a practical and attractive format, to publicize many people who have done a great job and contributed to the projection of the Villa. Some are popular and others are unknown to the general public.. Each sheet includes brief information on the main aspects and events in the life of the person in question, accompanied by a representation of his figure by the hand of the illustrator Víctor Jaubert.
The Town Hall launched this project in 2021. Now the goal is to hold an exhibition with the prints already published as a traveling exhibition, which would begin in a public space in the historic center to rotate through other points and centers that demand it. Among the forecasts includes the publication of a compilation book and linking the images to facades, buildings or places with which the character has some connection. They are currently displayed on the corporate website, www.laorotava.es, and on the local Institution’s social networks.
