The Canarian president urges not to believe a “convict” in the ‘Mediator case’ and stresses that there are no members of the Government investigated
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, questioned this Tuesday “the rush” of the president of the Canary Islands PP, Manuel Domínguez, for coming to power after the next elections in May.
“He’s going to be left wanting,” he said in response to the spokesman for the Popular Group, Manuel Domínguez, on the first day of the ‘Debate on the State of Canary Islands Nationality’, assuring him that “do not confuse desires with reality” given his forecast that he will govern after the May elections.
Questioned about the ‘Mediator case’, he has asked why a “convict” is being listened to when the mayors deny having met with Marco Antonio Navarro and an official says that it is a “lie” that the president knew about the plot.
“Let justice walk and whoever falls falls, let’s not make parallel trials,” he said, also stressing that after more than a year of investigation “no member of the Government is under investigation.”
He has criticized that from the opposition they are “tremendously demanding” with the ‘Pact of Flowers’ when they have investigated charges “that are presented to the elections” and has been against the “judicialization” of politics, both with this case as with that of the masks and even with the ‘crane case’, which affected the general secretary of CC, Fernando Clavijo, and ended up being archived.
He has stressed that the PP “has been loyal” in the reconstruction of La Palma, for which reason he has not understood his criticism, at the same time that he has blurted out that he has rarely visited the ‘beautiful island’, like the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo.
He has denied the supposed “submission” of the Canary Islands government to President Pedro Sánchez when he has not censored Juan Manuel Moreno’s criticism of the Canary Islands employment plan and has questioned his “tremendousness” when using the “lie” with the crime data .
Regarding criticism of health, he has reproached the popular demonstrations held in Madrid and in terms of the environment, he has indicated that the PP wants to repeal the climate change law.
Torres has once again defended the management of his government in dependence, the increase in scholarships and the hiring of more public workers and has shown his concern that Domínguez has not said that he is not going to agree with VOX, which denies the rights to the women.
THE GOVERNMENT “DOES NOT ABANDON” THE ELDERLY
He has stressed that the Government “does not abandon” the elderly with discharge from hospitals, stressing that “it is not a new problem”, and has recalled how other governments, in reference to Madrid, abandoned the elderly in residences in the midst of a pandemic .
The president has taken refuge in data to defend the management of waiting lists – they have risen in all communities after the post-pandemic opening – and has underlined his commitment to “the public” compared to what the PP does, betting on the private.
He has censored the popular ones for the biggest cuts suffered by the Canary Islands in recent years, especially with the highway agreement, indicating that “everyone has to drag their shadow”, for example with the refusal of transport subsidies in the REF in 2012 .
He has also indicated that “corruption cannot be covered for partisan reasons”, underlining what Pablo Casado did in relation to the brother of the Madrid president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and first “they supported him” and days later he said “the opposite”.
Torres has appreciated that the Canarian PP has voted in favor of the ‘trans’ law or has advanced against the speeches that encourage xenophobia but instead “they do not say clearly that they do not want the extreme right.”
Likewise, he has denied that he is “a martyr” but he has defended that his government “works and shows its face” and “never” surrenders “in the face of any adversity.”
