The Punta del Hidalgo skate park will host from today, until next Sunday, the third edition of the RollFestival, an initiative that will take place for the first time in La Laguna and in which attendees will be able to experience family leisure days with workshops , activities and film screenings related to extreme sports. All the programming can be consulted on the official website www.rollfestival.com/es/
The project director, Mario Silva, explains that audiovisual creation related to this type of practice “was very fashionable on the internet and social networks, so it occurred to us to approach extreme sports from the perspective of cinematographic language to enjoy them in large format instead of mobile phones and other small devices ”.
“The Rollfestival – Silva continues – works in the context of the values of sport and healthy habits. Our idea is to bring certain disciplines closer to the general public and wrap it in a format that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Uniting all this, the festival was born and, fortunately, we are already in the third edition ”.
On this occasion, the organization has received almost a hundred cinematographic works “a quite significant production given the international character that we want to print on it and the context of the countries that have joined us for this occasion. We are even reaching certain channels and avenues that motivate us because the narrative quality of the works we receive is increasingly interesting ”, he argues.
The two previous editions were held in Puerto de la Cruz, “but this year we are going, for the first time, to the Punta del Hidalgo sports park. It is a perfect setting because in its annex it has a skate park and the breadth of the area will allow us to develop the festival in a framework of complete sanitary security. The capacity has been reduced to a hundred people and, despite the fact that the space is open and very wide, there will be access controls so that that number is never exceeded. There will never be crowds and we want people to feel safe and calm so that they can enjoy it as a family ”. Silva reveals that the Rollfestival “will feature two open-air cinema sessions in which the winners of this edition will be announced. During the day, we will have a family leisure park with activities such as skateboarding, bmx, surf simulators, a climbing wall and even a market where artisans can sell their products. There will also be a restaurant area and a gastronomic exhibition that can be visited from Friday to Sunday ”.
