The Prosecutor’s Office requests seven years in prison for a woman for trying to introduce hashish and heroin into the Tenerife II prison

The Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will host a trial in the coming weeks in which the Prosecutor’s Office requests seven years in prison and a fine of just over 2,000 euros for a woman who tried to introduce hashish and heroin into the Tenerife II prison, located in the Tenerife municipality of El Rosario.

The defendant was surprised at around 7:00 p.m. on June 23, 2022 by prison officials passing the access control of the compound to carry out a visit, carrying inside a package some sandals that had been manipulated so that in her 87 grams of hashish and 2.5 of heroin with 18% purity will be placed inside.

The drug was supposedly intended to be distributed among the inmates of the prison, and could have reached a value of just over 700 euros on the illicit consumer market.

The public ministry concludes that the facts constitute a crime against public health in the form of substances that cause serious damage to health, provided for and punishable in the Penal Code.

For the trial, which will take place on June 1, two Civil Guard agents and another in charge of prison security have been called to testify as witnesses.

Reports on the seized substance and its purity will also be presented after being analyzed by the Pharmaceutical Inspection and Drug Control of the Sub-delegation of the Government of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

At the time, the Prosecutor carried out the necessary procedures to ensure and guarantee payment of the civil liabilities faced by the defendant.

The reports that reflect the value that these substances would have had will also be presented.
