A landslide in Punta del Hidalgo (Tenerife) disables a highway lane for nine days

A collapse produced by the rainy on January 29 forced to cordon off the General Highway Hidalgo Point (Tenerife) in the direction of Punta. Local Police agents blocked traffic while a crane operated that same day to control the landslides.

The works continue today, Monday, February 6, after nine days with only one lane enabled. It is the only access road to this population, belonging to the municipality of La Laguna. To regulate circulation, two traffic lights were placed in both directions so that vehicles use only the lane of the road that is clear.

As the La Laguna City Council has explained to this newspaper, this has been an “urgent intervention” as a result of the landslides, and it is expected to “complete between today and tomorrow”, Tuesday, February 7.

They ensure that these “immediate security measures are not definitive”, so that once the works are finished, it will be assessed whether it is already safe to open traffic in both lanes of the highway.
