The Granadilla de Abona City Council held the first edition of the Animal Welfare Forum in the Plaza de El Médano, a day that began with an exhibition of dogs used in search operations by the Civil Protection of La Laguna and in which the public He was able to appreciate first-hand the modus operandi of these animals. Subsequently, a parade of homeless dogs from various shelters was held with the aim of encouraging their adoption.
The lawyer from the Animal Law Commission of the Bar Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Francisca Gutiérrez, gave a talk on the animal welfare law, prior to the parade in which four of the participating dogs were awarded. The event concluded with a display by the Harzai K9 dog police group, specialized in the search for drugs and explosives, and with a large raffle of products donated by sponsors, including Affinity Fundación, Koala, Reebook and Pura Sangre Canina, among others. . In addition, the day included activities aimed at the little ones with face painting spaces and workshops on different crafts. The mayor of Granada, Jennifer Miranda, described the reception of the forum as “gratifying,” “so we will continue to support the rights and well-being of animals with various actions from the municipal institution.”
In this sense, he guaranteed the City Council’s commitment to give continuity to municipal work in favor of pets.
For her part, the councilor of the Animal Welfare area Carmen Dolores Rodríguez thanked all the participants and the sponsors for their support “demonstrating that Granadilla de Abona is a municipality that is aware of this matter.”
