Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 7 Feb. (Europa Press) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife announces this Friday that the forthcoming socio-health centre in Barranco Hondo, located within the municipality of Candelaria, is currently undergoing tendering for a total of 4.6 million euros.
This decision was finalised at a meeting of the Technical Monitoring Commission last week, which saw the Minister of Social Action, Águeda Fumero, meet with the mayor of Candelaria, Mari Brito.
This agreement was originally established in 2022 and reviewed in 2023 to adjust prices and incorporate additional services, such as medicinal gases, with the intention of introducing 42 new residential spaces and 20 day care places in the municipality of Candelaria, alongside the essential equipment to deliver quality services to the elderly.
Minister Águeda Fumero remarked in a statement that “this signifies a substantial advancement towards fulfilling our commitment to increase socio-health places on the island of Tenerife, addressing societal needs.”
Fumero emphasised that achieving these objectives relies heavily on “collaborative efforts with the municipalities,” spotlighting Candelaria’s commitment and Mayor Mari Brito’s dedication to making this centre a reality at the earliest opportunity.
The councillor expressed a strong belief that “an approach to social management based on network collaboration enables the provision of optimal services to our citizens.”
Mayor Mari Brito and the Councillor for Social Services, Olivia Pérez, conveyed their contentment regarding the project’s advancement, expressing gratitude for “the involvement of the Cabildo de Tenerife and all technical personnel diligently working to ensure that the construction progresses as swiftly as possible, as this new centre will serve as a benchmark for the care of the elderly and dependent individuals, enhancing their quality of life.”
Both leaders highlighted the significance of institutional collaboration in executing this venture, affirming their happiness in witnessing the project’s development, as constructing the new socio-health centre exemplifies their commitment to the well-being of the elderly and to fostering a fairer and more compassionate society.
