Civil Guard agents belonging to the Traffic Analysis and Investigation Group (GIAT) of the Canary Islands Traffic Sector have conducted proceedings in which they are investigating a 55-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, reckless driving, when driving on the Autopista del Norte (TF-5) in the opposite direction for at least 15 km.
The events occurred around 1:45 a.m. on January 13, between kilometer points 28 and 13 (La Victoria-La Laguna) of the TF-5, when the vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction to that of its march (heading north in the lane towards Santa Cruz) was seen and recorded by other driver-witnesses who were driving in the correct lane towards the capital of Tenerife.
Once the GIAT agents learned of the serious events thanks to citizen collaboration, more specifically through the video recorded by the witnesses of the events, who quickly alerted the emergency services, they immediately began an investigation to clarify them. , thus managing to identify, locate and investigate in a short space of time the owner of the vehicle, who is being investigated as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety. The proceedings initiated have been forwarded to the Investigating Court of La Orotava.
