SAN SEBASTIÁN DE LA GOMERA, 6 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –
La Gomera closed last year 2022 with a tourist occupancy of more than 95%, as indicated by the Cabildo in a press release in which it adds that the island has had figures of absolute fullness during specific moments of the last two weeks of December.
The insular president, Casimiro Curbelo, has opined that these data “show the potential that La Gomera has as a destination in which to enjoy vacations.”
In the same way, he pointed out the importance of the full recovery of the arrival of tourists, especially from Central Europe and the Nordic countries, based on the results obtained from the promotional actions that have been carried out by Turismo La Gomera throughout the year.
Curbelo highlighted here the consolidation of the island as a benchmark destination in terms of tourism sustainability, an area in which the Island Institution has comprehensive planning with an investment of 3.3 million euros.
“These are actions linked to a green strategy, energy efficiency, digital transformation and the competitiveness of the destination, with which we intend to maintain ourselves as a place of excellence and boost tourist spending, as well as the average stay,” said the president.
For her part, the insular Councilor for Tourism, María Isabel Méndez, explained that the forecast that these positive data on tourist occupancy will continue throughout January, “and even extend to February and March, months in which the reservations in tourist establishments on the island”.
In addition, he highlighted the participation of Turismo de La Gomera in more than thirty fairs and tourist events throughout Europe and in the national territory during the year 2022.
