sustainable destination
The objective of making the Anaga Biosphere Reserve a sustainable tourist destination is based on respect for its natural and cultural values with the involvement of residents and visitors. The project will work to promote socioeconomic development and encourage and boost economic activities that bring benefits to the population and the ecosystem. For this reason, in its development, special emphasis is placed on promoting hiking, local gastronomy and the promotion of other ecotourism activities such as bird watching.
In the other approved project, work will be done to convert the Isla Baja region, including the Teno Rural Park, into a destination based on tourism sustainability that generates opportunities for job. The plan seeks to improve profitability and competitiveness by reinforcing SMEs and tourism professionals that operate in the destination and the generation of employment opportunities for its population.
Within the Tenerife Reset Plan, which is already underway, the Cabildo has given the green light to the execution of a program of actions to improve the network of infrastructures and equipment for bird watching, with a budget of 3,484,568 euros. The objective is to study and work on the priority places to intervene based on their ornithological interest, tourist potential and possible synergies with hiking or astrotourism.
