SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife (Titsa), a Cabildo company, transported 4,556,610 passengers during the month of October, which represents a record increase in passengers in a single month since 2009.
From January to October, Titsa displaced 38,973,096 users, which represents 3.1 percent more than the same period in 2019 prior to the health pandemic.
The vice-president of the Cabildo, insular councilor for Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, highlighted that the recovery of passengers in 2022 is consolidating and wanted to remember that in order to respond to this increase in travelers, new buses will arrive to expand the fleet, both in regime as their own and that new drivers will also be hired.
The largest increase occurs in the long-distance lines that connect the south of the island with the metropolitan area, with 31.2 percent more, followed by the routes that connect the capital with the north, which increase by 18, 5 percent, and the intercity services of Santa Cruz with 15.7 percent.
The lines that connect the Santa Cruz Interchange with the south of the island transported a total of 2,801,256 passengers until October, which represents 665,586 more passengers than in the same period of 2019, an increase of 31.2 percent.
For its part, the routes that connect the capital with the north added a total of 2,872,688 passengers or what is the same, 18.5 percent more users.
The interurban lines of Santa Cruz grew by 228,048 passengers, reaching 1,677,676 passengers. Likewise, the interurban routes of La Laguna added 593,444 users.
The lines of the southern area of Tenerife added up to October of this year 563,252 passengers reaching 9,165,178, which means 6.5 percent more. Those in the north of the island accounted for 3,932,634 passengers, 2.5 percent more than in the same period of 2019, adding 95,211 passengers. For their part, the routes of the metropolitan area maintained their figures by transporting 9,006,142 passengers.
