The third vice president and counselor of Social Action of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Marián Franquet, has announced the approval today Tuesday in the Governing Council of 141 new positions for labor personnel for the Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS) with which the demand that existed and an improvement in the social care provided on the island is guaranteed.
In addition, it is agreed to put into operation another 28 new places, as legality allows, following the criteria established by the General Intervention of the Cabildo.
Marián Franquet indicated that this is a very important step that fulfills the agreement reached with the representatives of the workers in the Governing Council of the IASS to promote the creation of 169 new positions for labor personnel, as announced in the speech he made, at his own request, in the extraordinary plenary session convened last October to explain the management of the Institute.
“Never before in the 20-year history of the IASS has an increase in staff like this been approved, to which must be added the 28 new positions for officials approved in October to consolidate the administrative structure of the Institute,” he added. the counselor.
Franquet pointed out that the new places approved today are budgeted and allow “to strengthen a new organizational model in the care centers for dependents, minors and victims of gender violence that depend on the IASS, guaranteeing the necessary jobs to cover the shifts of morning, afternoon and night every day of the year, including holidays”. In addition, it is proposed to create a large substitution template to cover vacations, temporary incapacity or unforeseen absences.
The counselor wanted to remind that this increase in places is part of the new social care model that the Cabildo is implementing in Tenerife with the aim of adapting services to current needs and the increase in users and the budget it manages. the Institute.
“Our main objective is to improve the quality of care received and offer a more personalized service adjusted to the demands of each group, and for that we need to start by strengthening the foundations and the main asset of the IASS, such as the workers who work in their centers”, highlighted the counselor, who added that since 2019 the budget for personnel expenses has increased by 10 million euros.
