The Urban Planning technicians of the Los Realejos City Council and the Local Police have prepared a report with two proposals that save the exit from the Camino El Patronato towards the TF-5 motorway, closed since Friday by the insular area of Highways.
A decision that has caused great discomfort among the residents of the municipality because it leaves a road “that has had it for 40 years” without an exit, according to the document presented by the technicians. In the descriptive memory of the rehabilitation project of the TF-5 pavement -downloaded from the Public Sector Platform and to which this newspaper had access- no plans have been found for the modification that has been made to the horizontal signage at the exit of the aforementioned road and therefore, this closure of the road was not previously known.
One of the proposals of the Consistory, which was sent yesterday to the Cabildo de Tenerife, consists of leaving the signage as it was with the deceleration lane that allows both the entrance to Los Realejos through the El Castillo roundabout as well as the direct incorporation of El Patronato to the TF-5.
The other alternative is to maintain the current signage and a Ceda El Paso at the link between the motorway and the road, as this would allow traffic to access both the El Castillo roundabout and the TF-5 directly.
Mayor’s Discomfort
The mayor, Adolfo González, transferred his discomfort on Friday to the insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, “because of the forms and substance of the matter”, given that the City Council was never communicated “neither in writing nor verbally” that modification in the signaling and the closure of the road.
“We have developed two alternatives because I am in favor of dialogue and understanding and because the technical reports guarantee that the continuity of access to the TF-5 from El Patronato is viable”, declares the alderman.
González advocates for dialogue and for giving a few days for the island technicians to assess and study the proposals presented. But in the event that they are not attended to, the municipal government will assess the possible measures to be taken with the legal office of the City Council.
