The forest fire that was declared last Thursday in the north of Tenerife and that already affects five municipalities: La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla, La Guancha and Icod de los Vinos, already affects 2,423 hectareswith an approximate perimeter of 26 kilometers.
This was reported this Sunday morning by the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, who appeared before the media after attending the technical coordination meeting in the morning, in which he was accompanied by the Minister of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, Julio Pérez; the head of the Civil Protection service, Montserrat Román, and the BRIFOR spokesperson, Pedro Martínez.
Torres has also affirmed that the progress of the flames is slow but has highlighted that the most complicated area of the fire is Chanajiga as it is inaccessible by land, but aerial means are already acting on the slope of Tigaiga. In fact, there are 13 air assets that are working to extinguish the fire.
Likewise, the Canarian president has assured that tonight there have been no new evictions of neighbors, since all the evacuations were carried out on Saturday in anticipation of the advance of the flames.
