What is the assessment of the initial weeks of the route’s commencement between Tenerife and El Hierro?
As of December 31, our return to the port of La Estaca, in El Hierro, has become a reality. With this development, we conclude our 50th anniversary year and reaffirm our dedication to the archipelago’s connectivity. This route has enhanced maritime links with the island of the meridian. During these initial weeks of operation, 16,200 travellers have opted for us to undertake this journey, a figure that was further solidified during the recent La Candelaria holiday on February 2, when over 3,000 passengers selected us as their mode of transport between Tenerife and El Hierro.
How frequently does this service currently run?
This service operates on a winter timetable with 16 departures each week, 8 in each direction, along with a summer schedule which will have an additional two daily crossings on Fridays and Sundays, leading to a total of 20 weekly connections. Furthermore, as has always been our practice with all our routes, we have the capacity to introduce extra services during peak demand periods, such as Christmas, Holy Week, or major celebrations like the descent of the Virgen de los Reyes, during which we have already included additional trips in our standard sales systems.
How has Fred. Olsen Express managed the resumption of services in El Hierro?
Our return to El Hierro has been characterised by both the enthusiasm of re-establishing our operations on the island and a commitment to serving as a supportive link for travel across the Canaries. From the outset, we have strived to offer flexible schedules, a range of pricing options, and exclusive onboard services that set us apart from the existing maritime offerings on the island, which now include facilities for pets, a premium class, onboard entertainment via the ‘On Board Club’ App, and a children’s area, among other amenities. All of this is aimed at being a partner that mitigates the challenges of insularity by connecting our islands.
