SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 13 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Roads area, has put on public display the project to reform the public lighting of the TF-11, known as the San Andrés highway, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with a budget of 416,829 euros and an execution period of three and a half months.
This action contemplates the renovation of the public lighting installation which, due to its age and high exposure to the marine environment that surrounds it, requires a comprehensive reform.
The Councilor for Highways, Enrique Arriaga, explains in a note that “state-of-the-art, sustainable lights will be installed, suitable for the marine environment, which improves their durability and reduces conservation costs.”
In addition, he points out that the lighting calculation has been revised in such a way that a higher level of safety will be achieved for both drivers, athletes and pedestrians.
Arriaga details that “the new installation will use LED technology luminaires and 3000ºK color temperature, with a flow regulator, and with the possibility of being remotely managed.”
In this way, he continues, “a solution that respects the environment will be achieved, especially with the local avifauna and with the quality of the sky”.
The project not only contemplates the lighting solution but also the pipes, wiring, grounding and electrical protections are reformed to adapt to the most up-to-date safety regulations on the matter, so that the protection of citizens against any type of risk that this type of facility could entail.
In addition, the existing poles will be replaced by others made of polyester reinforced with fiberglass, specially designed for marine environments due to their special characteristics against corrosion.
The insular director of Highways, Tomás Félix García, recalls that “at the end of the public exhibition period, the bidding for the works to execute the change of lighting and the works that it includes may begin.”
García also explains that “after a complicated administrative process of the file, it has been possible to unblock the Costas permits that had not been able to be solved since the installation of the first luminaires more than a decade ago”.
From the energy point of view, great benefits will be obtained, with an estimated saving of 70% of electricity consumption, which is equivalent to a saving in billing of more than 15,000 euros per year and a reduction in CO2 emissions of approximately 84 tons per year. .
In general, it is an action that will mean a lower rate of incidents in the installation and therefore a higher level of service guarantee, all of which will result in savings of public resources currently invested in maintenance that is currently disproportionate for said facility.
