The tourist situation in Adeje is “very good”, as can be deduced from the fact that “we are already only one percentage point away from the employment we had in 2019, which means that the sector has been reactivated and demand as well.” The mayor of Adejero, José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga, assured it in the Municipal Council of Tourism. “We have had a good Easter, from the tourist point of view, and a summer with the same trend is expected,” he concluded.
Rodríguez Fraga presented to the Council the main lines of action to improve the competitiveness of the destination: «The expectations, the necessary investments, and the financing through the different European Funds to which we have access through the different calls».
The lines of action focus on four fundamental axes: sustainability, digitization, culture and strategic alliances. The Councilor for Tourism of Adejero, Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, stressed that “in order to return to the leadership position we had in 2019, we have to invest and continue to strengthen alliances between the public and the private.”
Those attending the Municipal Council of Tourism They highlighted the economic and employment recovery that the sector is experiencing, thanks, in part, to the competitiveness of the destination: establishments in continuous renovation, the quality of the companies established in the municipality and services in line with it, says the local government. Adeje accesses European funding funds in its various calls to carry out major proposals that will benefit and enhance the municipality from a tourist, cultural, environmental, sports and social perspective.
From the point of view of environmental, social and economic sustainability, specific actions will be carried out on the 26 kilometers of beach, with the improvement of the existing tourist infrastructure in the 24 bathing areas and the implementation of new tourist products that are more close to promoting the local identity of Adejera, among others.
In addition, the Adeje Smart Tourist Destination project began its implementation and will be ready in a year and a half, so that Adeje consolidates its transformation towards more efficient service management models.
