This Thursday the emblematic dragon tree of Icod de Los Vinos has burned as a result, presumably, of the action of some vandals who have decided to set it on fire.

Valentín Correa, Secretary of the First Vice Presidency in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, has asked on his Twitter account to stop the vandalism and has shown his “most resounding condemnation and rejection of the act of vandalism that the San Antonio dragon tree has suffered in the municipality of Icod de The wines”.

Likewise, the journalist Félix Díaz has said that he was “Indignant and worried” about the reasons that could cause someone to attack a “magnificent and symbolic dragon tree”. In addition, he has thanked all the emergency and security teams that have intervened after the event, such as the Local Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection or 1-1-2, who have “avoided major damage.”
