recorded practicing downhill cycling in a protected natural area

The Telesforo Bravo Juan Coello Foundation has harshly criticized an event that occurred this weekend in the Teide National Park and was recorded in a video that has gone viral on social networks. In the images you can see a person descending his bicycle in the snow-covered park, specifically on the Ramón Caminero track, shortly after its start at the Mirador de Corral del Niño. “Canary Islands, a paradise for madmen”, titled the foundation when sharing the footage, in which it is also seen how the cyclist falls on the brooms and several people are heard laughing.

“Last weekend a lot of people went up and among them, these crazy people. We recommend that you watch this video until the end because there are even those who laugh thanks to them,” they commented from the Foundation and recalled in their writing that what they were doing is “absolutely prohibited”. “The lack of environmental education, civility and the means to monitor, turn this protected natural space into a recreational park,” they pointed out.

“When we say that we have a social problem, it is because as a society, we must not give up educating, denouncing and isolating the uncivil. We cannot remain impassive in the face of the degradation of our natural and cultural heritage,” they concluded.
