SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Félix Bolaños, has assessed this Wednesday that the delivery of aid to those affected by the Cumbre Vieja volcano is being carried out “in record time” and as “never before” has occurred in the history of public administrations.

In an interview with ‘Radio Club Tenerife’ and collected by Europa Press, he stressed that the effort of all the institutions “is indisputable” and in the specific case of the central government, some 250 million have already been mobilized and it is expected to reach 440 million.

“We are relatively satisfied with how we have managed the catastrophe and the agility in the times,” he said.

Thus, he commented that once the volcanic eruption has ended, the island’s economy must be designed, ensuring that La Palma “will have a future”, and that it involves continuing to strengthen the primary sector and combine it with other activities such as science. and research or sustainable tourism.

“The commitment of all administrations is to rebuild the island and in the shortest possible time,” he detailed.

Bolaños has highlighted that “there are already hundreds of palm trees” who have received aid, and has given as an example the processing of almost 80 housing files, the payment of 80 million to almost 600 people through the insurance consortium, with 136,000 euros of average, or the delivery of the first homes before the first three months of the emergency were completed.

In addition, he has shown his “solidarity” with all those affected and understands that “the delivery of the aid seems less rapid than it should” but defends the “great effort” made by the Executive and the rest of the administrations.

In this line, he has indicated that they have made legislative changes where it has been possible to streamline the management, in the case of compensation for housing, which has quadrupled from 15,000 to 60,000 euros, and also, compatible with other aid, or advances 50% without completion of the file.

On when the reconstruction of the island will finish, he has indicated that “the mission will be accomplished” on the day that “normality is restored”, and for this, he has highlighted the work “collaboratively” of all public administrations and with “colors different”.
