The Cabildo has presented Pink Triangles, the first documentary about the trans memory of Tenerife directed by Borja Lynch. The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, explains that the audiovisual piece narrates the vital testimony of three transsexual women – Terri León, Dona Hernández and Marcela Rodríguez – who fought for decades during the dictatorship to break glass ceilings and win rights such as being recognized for their felt identity.
The project does not look at the trans community from the condition of victim but rather addresses their achievements in terms of inclusion from a perspective of struggle and courage. It wants to be a recognition of trans women who have served as an example to current generations without looking for it. “This project tells the story of a whole generation that, wanting it, has changed the world, how society perceives the trans community,” summarizes Gugliotta.
