The Cabildo invested more than 6 million euros in the livestock of Tenerife in two years. This was explained by the insular Councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla, in the plenary session of November when he defended the management of the area.
Parrilla assured that “in the last two years we have captured and executed more budget volume than the previous government group in the four of its mandate.” He announced that the budget item for 2023 will exceed 4.22 million euros.
He appealed to the data of the Registry of Livestock Farms (REGA), to determine that both censuses and number of livestock farms have experienced a recovery in the last two years, except in the rabbit field.
Parrilla acknowledged during his speech that livestock is in a “complex” situation and “very high uncertainty”, but “collective efforts give results.” The budget proposal only for the promotion of livestock represents an increase of 35% compared to 2022.
Parrilla valued the ranchers, since “despite the crisis and the effects of the war in Ukraine, they have resisted and are resisting.”
