SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 13 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Council of Tenerife has approved this week in the Governing Council a commission to the public company Gesplan for the execution of a service to stimulate educational forestry workshops for the 2021/2022 school year, which will involve an investment of 105,656.64 euros.
The island councilor for Natural Environment and Security Management, Isabel García, highlighted the “importance of raising awareness and sensitizing the younger population about caring for and respecting the environment”, and assured that it represents “a magnificent investment for the future”.
The objective of this assignment is to publicize forest management, the natural environment and the reality of local forests and mountains, promote respect among students for the environment and explore the variety of resources and services provided by forests.
Isabel García reaffirmed the need to educate from an early age and was convinced that issues such as the approach to forest resources and spaces “contribute to obtaining a more respectful and empathetic society with the environment.”
The service to stimulate forestry workshops in educational centers will be complemented with excursions to Protected Natural Areas (ENP). The execution period of the order is nine months, from the day after the initiation act is signed, and the file will be financed with the island corporation’s own funds.
