SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Governing Council has given its approval to the emergency contracts made by the El Hierro Health Area Directorate for the provision of the short-stay accommodation service ‘Arca de Noé’ and the execution of conditioning works for the Polideportivo de San Andrés, in Valverde, destined for the quarantine or isolation of migrants due to COVID-19.
The Area Management hired in March the use of the old Frontera convent for a period of six months, for a total amount of 89,880.00 euros, which was hired again in August for the emergency procedure for the time necessary to undertake the conditioning works of the San Andrés sports center, at a rate of 17,120 euros per month.
For its part, and prior temporary transfer of the facilities by the Island Council of El Hierro, refurbishment works have been carried out in the aforementioned sports center, as the most suitable solution to provide the alternative accommodation service, given the limitation of the accommodation offer in the island and the need to guarantee compliance with the quarantine periods indicated for migrants.
The works were awarded by resolution of the Area Management on September 7 and had a total cost of 186,461.21 euros.
The hiring of the accommodation of the former Frontera convent has been carried out in accordance with Law 9/2017 on Public Sector Contracts, as established in the Order of the Minister of Health No. 954/2020, of December 22, on the declaration of emergency and execution of the necessary actions for the provision of short-stay accommodation establishments to guarantee the effective isolation or quarantine of people who have it prescribed by reason of COVID-19 and have difficulty in complying with it.
To this order is added Instruction No. 4/21, of the director of the Canary Health Service, of January 26, which establishes the requirements and the procedure to guarantee the isolation or quarantine by certain groups, through their accommodation in short-stay establishments.
