Canary Islands starts the week with a balance of 198 new infections of covid-19 accounted for in the last 24 hours, as reported this Monday, August 23, the Ministry of Health of the regional government. The data recorded today suppose a decrease of 32 affected compared to the last week, 230. In the last 23 days there has been a continuous decrease in the number of new positives.
What’s more, four people have passed away with the disease: two men, 82 and 62 years old, and an 87-year-old woman in Gran Canaria and a 67-year-old man in La Palma. All suffered from previous pathologies and remained in hospital admission.
Health specifies that the death pending validation notified last Saturday in the statistical portal corresponds to a 73-year-old man in Tenerife who died at home.
The number of deaths in the Archipelago since the pandemic began it rises to 910.
By islands, Tenerife adds 111 cases, 68 Gran Canaria, 15 Lanzarote, 3 Fuerteventura and 1 La Palma, while La Gomera and El Hierro do not register new infected.
Admissions to the ICU are close to one hundred again in Canarian hospitals, where 96 patients are found (+3). Also in the plant there are more hospitalized (+7) and it reaches 400 again. Also, 14,153 people with covid spend the disease without hospitalization, that is, at their homes.
As for discharges, 413 have been reported today, so 74,863 people have already overcome the disease in the Canary Islands.
The Accumulated Incidence at 7 days in the Canary Islands it is 86.63 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days in the 218.34 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 90,422 positives have been recorded in the Canary Islands.
To date, 1,969,164 diagnostic tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 3,168 correspond to yesterday.
