SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, December 29 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, said this Wednesday that “it is very likely” that the ‘Covid certificate’ will be requested to access the Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium in the Tenerife-Las Palmas derby if it is finally disputed with the public.

In a press conference to give an account of the agreements of the Governing Council, he commented that it is a measure that the Government manages “for all social activities” but in any case, he commented that the Ministry of Health will make the decision this Thursday one Once the meeting of the inter-territorial commission that meets this afternoon has concluded.

Pérez has indicated that “it is prudent and obligatory” to be aware of the general criteria that are adopted to establish a decision in the islands and although he has given the example that the Basque Country has ordered a reduction of the capacity by 50 percent, he has indicated that also “they will be pending” of what is decided in the interterritorial.

“It is difficult to anticipate the criteria of the Ministry before the meeting,” he pointed out, underlining that Public Health has been analyzing the derby and its conditions for several days – it recommends that it be played behind closed doors – but at the same time there are more games in all of Spain and you have to know “what is the general recommendation”.

Pérez has pointed out that the coronavirus pandemic “is a health problem” but that it has economic and organizational “consequences”, and the Tenerife-Las Palmas match presents difficulties beyond the capacity because the conditions of access to the field must also be regulated, who can be accessed or controlled. “We are very attentive to the recommendations of the technicians,” he highlighted.
