Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 30 Jan. (Europa Press) –
The newly established local office in El Sauzal is set to serve approximately 3,500 individuals starting in February and will introduce new consultations in its updated location. This announcement was made on Thursday by the president of the Canarian government, Fernando Clavijo, who toured the facility alongside the Minister of Health, Esther Monzón, and the president of the Cabildo Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, among other officials.
The infrastructure has undergone renovations that, with an investment of €986,676, have enabled it to double its capacity. For the Canary government, this represents “a significant milestone” in enhancing the health services within the municipality and demonstrates the Executive’s commitment to the “modernisation of primary care,” as highlighted in a statement from the Canary Islands government.
The Vice Minister of Health and Director of the Canarian Health Service (SCS), Carlos Díaz, the mayor of the locality, Mariano Pérez, the Primary Care Manager of Tenerife, Jesús Delgado, and the Director along with the Deputy Directors also attended the event for the basic health zone of Tacoronte, to which the local office of El Sauzal is affiliated.
“The construction of a new facility, considerably larger than the previous one, has enabled the incorporation of emergency services, physiotherapy, a room for SINTROM treatments, and a sample extraction area for analytics at the local office of El Sauzal,” stated Clavijo, who mentioned that these new consultations would be accessible in the first quarter of the year.
Consequently, the President pointed out that this development signifies an enhancement in accessibility and the advantages that professionals at this Primary Care Health Centre provide to the local population.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Esther Monzón clarified that the new infrastructure will cater to a population exceeding 3,400, comprising both adults and children. She remarked that the improvements and expansions undertaken will facilitate a better response to the health needs and demands of the residents in El Sauzal, as “the capacity for care” will be enhanced “that will be rendered.”
From the town hall of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila confirmed that efforts will continue in collaboration with all relevant institutions to ensure that the residents of northern Tenerife receive “the best possible care.”

The new local office in El Sauzal spans a useful area of 348 square metres, more than double the size of the previous establishment. Regarding the care facilities, this new centre comprises two family medicine consultations, two nursing rooms, one paediatrics room, one paediatric nursing station, an extraction room, a SINTROM consultation room, and an emergency department.
The centre also provides social work and physiotherapy services, the latter of which has been newly incorporated into the Local Office of El Sauzal. Furthermore, the building includes a reception area, waiting room, changing facilities, restrooms, and staff lounge as well as storage areas.
