SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Jan. 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
A total of 193 individuals have arrived on the island of El Hierro via two vessels in recent hours, with no need for transfer to medical facilities, the Red Cross reported on Sunday.
Specifically, the first vessel carrying 132 migrants docked at La Restinga around 7 p.m. on Saturday, followed by the second boat, which reached the shores of El Hierro with 61 people approximately 30 minutes after midnight on Sunday.
The migrants were rescued by Maritime Rescue and received assistance on land from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), which dispatched an ambulance and staff to the dock on both occasions.
The Red Cross contributed with 17 and 14 volunteers, respectively, aiding the migrants and providing hygiene packs, clothing, footwear, blankets, and food.
