Thursday’s Forecast in the Canary Islands: Should You Pack an Umbrella?

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) forecasts that this Thursday will see persistent cloudy intervals across the archipelago, with a chance of light and sporadic rainfall. Additionally, temperatures are expected to remain stable or decrease slightly, accompanied by a gentle breeze predominantly from the north.

On the mountainous islands, there will be widespread cloudy intervals, with a slight chance of light and occasional rain on the northern slopes. Cloud cover is anticipated to increase in the interior and southern/eastern slopes as midday approaches. Light showers may occur in the afternoon, with the potential for locally moderate rainfall.

Concerning maritime conditions, winds are predicted to come from the north or northeast at strengths between 3 and 5, with a combination of moderate to strong swells, which are expected to diminish to smaller waves, creating two-metre swells from the north.

Island-Specific Forecast for Thursday in the Canary Islands

Lanzarote

Cloudy intervals will prevail, with a low chance of light and occasional rain, particularly more likely on the southeastern slopes later in the afternoon. Temperatures will either remain unchanged or reflect a slight decrease. A light wind is expected from the north, predominantly following a breezy pattern.

Forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures (°C): Reef 15 21

Fuerteventura

Cloudy intervals will dominate, with a low probability of light and occasional rain, somewhat more probable on the eastern slopes in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to stay the same or decline slightly. Light winds from the north will predominate with a tendency towards breeziness.

Forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures (°C): Puerto del Rosario 16 21

Gran Canaria

General cloudy intervals are expected, with a low chance of light and occasional rain specifically on the northern slope. Cloud cover will increase in the interior and southern/eastern slopes by midday, where light rain and showers are likely in the afternoon, with locally moderate precipitation not ruled out. Temperatures will remain stable or decrease slightly. A light northerly wind is anticipated, mainly following a breezy pattern.

Forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures (°C): Las Palmas de Gran Canaria 17 21

Tenerife

Cloudy intervals will occur with a low likely hood of sporadic rainfall on the northern slope, generally weak, becoming increasingly cloudy in both inland areas and the southern/eastern slopes from midday, with light rain and showers probable during the afternoon. There is also the possibility of moderate localised rainfall. Temperatures will remain stable or slightly decrease. Light frosts may appear on the peaks of Teide. Winds from the north will be light and predominantly breezy.

Forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures (°C): Santa Cruz de Tenerife 17 22

La Gomera

Cloudy intervals are forecasted, featuring a low chance of light and occasional rain on the northern slope. Cloudiness will increase in inland regions starting at midday, with light rain and showers likely in the afternoon, where locally moderate rainfall cannot be discounted. Temperatures will remain stable or reflect a slight decrease. Light winds from the north will dominate in a breezy pattern.

Forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures (°C): San Sebastián de La Gomera 18 22

La Palma

Expect cloudy intervals with a low chance of weak and occasional rains on the northern slope, increasing cloud cover in interior areas and eastern slopes after midday, where weak rainfall and showers are likely during the afternoon, with localised moderate rainfall not entirely excluded. Temperatures will generally stay the same or decrease slightly. Light wind from the north, predominantly in a breezy manner.

Forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures (°C): Santa Cruz de La Palma 17 21

El Hierro

Widespread cloudy intervals are anticipated, with a low probability of weak and occasional rainfall on the northern slope. This will increase to cloudy in the interior and southern/eastern slopes from midday, where light rain and showers are likely in the afternoon, without ruling out localised moderate conditions. Temperatures will remain stable or slightly decrease. A light wind from the north will predominate, mostly in a breezy regime.

Forecasted minimum and maximum temperatures (°C): Valverde 12 16
