SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 23rd October (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Cabildo of Tenerife is set to open the application period for the Nursery Check this Saturday, 26th October, which will run until 25th November 2024, as stated by the president of the insular Corporation, Rosa Dávila, during a press conference held following the Council of Government meeting.

“In this initiative, we have allocated a budget of 1.2 million euros, which will assist more than 1,500 families on the island with the objective of supporting over 6,000 families during this term. My commitment is that no Tenerife family that applies for this aid and meets the criteria will be excluded from this Nursery Check, so we are prepared to increase the budget if necessary,” Dávila elaborated.

Applications for aid can be submitted once the announcement of the second call for the nursery check for the 2024-2025 academic year is published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This financial support, introduced by the current Government team, is aimed at providing assistance to families with children under three years old in financing their children’s education in early childhood education centres.

The grant offers a maximum of 800 euros per family and covers essential costs such as tuition, childcare, hygiene, meals, and school clothing. It also allows families to select their preferred children’s centre based on their interests.

Families wishing to apply for this aid can do so from Saturday, 26th October to 25th November, not just in person at the headquarters of the Insular Foundation for Training, Employment and Business Development (Fifede), the body responsible for managing applications. For the first time, applications can also be submitted electronically via the Fifede Electronic Headquarters (sede.fifede.org) using a digital certificate or the authentication details provided by Fifede.

The established criteria include several significant requirements to ensure that the aid reaches those who are most in need. Among these stipulations, it is specified that household income per member of the family unit must not exceed 20,000 euros. In this context, Rosa Dávila projected that the management process would be prompt and effective, enabling families to benefit as soon as possible throughout the academic year.

“The primary aim of the Nursery Check is to facilitate the reconciliation of work and family life by alleviating the financial burden on families, thereby allowing parents to maintain their professional careers while ensuring their children receive necessary care,” stated Dávila.

The initiative also places emphasis on gender equality, given that a substantial proportion of leave from work for family care is requested by women.
