Mariano Pérez only has “good words” for his former government partner, who He leaves municipal politics at the age of 45 to focus on his professional career as an interim worker of the Ministry of Tourism of the Canary Islands Government. “I can only thank him because they have been 18 years of struggle and work in areas such as Education, Culture and, especially, in Social Services,” said the mayor, who acknowledges that “in recent months he has carried too much weight on his shoulders and For this reason, we understand that you need to lighten some weight in your backpack and find time to dedicate to what are now your priorities.

María del Carmen Pérez Galván assured yesterday THE DAY that he is leaving in the middle of his fifth term because his professional future “is not politics.” He didn’t even expect “to spend so much time doing this public service work, and it’s been 18 years now.” In her opinion, the time has come to focus more on her professional career and leave behind the limitations imposed by the daily work as a councilor in a municipality that has almost 9,000 inhabitants.

It is clear that leaves the “sometimes ungrateful” policy with no intention of returning, but he does not absolutely close the door so as not to have to back down in the future: «I never thought I would spend so much time in politics and it is a stage that I already consider closed.
