SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 9th Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Firefighters in Tenerife, stationed in the Santa Cruz park, were mobilised yesterday, Tuesday, at approximately 7:30 p.m., to assist in the rescue of two hikers who had lost their way in Anaga, specifically in the Lomo Bersegue area.

The individuals were en route to Benijo beach but strayed from their intended path and became disoriented. After more than ten hours of searching, they were found unharmed, thanks to the Tenerife Firefighters Drone Unit, which aided in the search efforts.

The operation was initiated through the Tenerife Firefighters Coordination Centre at 112, and due to its complexity, it necessitated the involvement of multiple teams. The first team embarked on a downward route and was able to establish contact with the hikers, though they could not reach them directly.

A second team took charge at Benijo and sought the assistance of the Drone Unit, which was responsible for surveying the area from bottom to top, aiding in the locating process, as access to the area was challenging due to dense vegetation and poor visibility.

By around seven o’clock on Wednesday morning, the hikers were reached and were escorted on foot to TF-123.

The operation required the collaboration of the National Police Corps, Local Police, Anaga Emergency Assistance (AEA), Civil Protection, and Cecopin.
