The Education Council closes the year with an investment of 500,000 euros in aid and works to conserve and maintain educational centers. The Councilor for Education, Coraima Afonso, conveyed this to the management teams of public Primary and Secondary schools and institutes when taking stock of the year.
A total of 671 students benefit from municipal aid for school supplies, at a rate of 149 euros per student. In addition, university and higher education students participate in a call for the purchase of technological material, with 100,000 euros to be distributed.
Afonso Navarro stressed that public centers for Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education, as well as associations of mothers and fathers, have a subsidy line open to carry out complementary activities, counting on 32,000 euros for this purpose. Transportation aid will be announced in the coming months, according to the forecast.
The traditional summer renovation, expansion and improvement works – which mostly consisted of accessibility and the creation and care of green areas – required an investment of 95,000 euros.
At the meeting, the Geyser program, the force of knowledge, was presented, a unified proposal for educational projects in municipal areas that aims to make visible and revalue resources such as culture, the environment, health, sports or heritage, among others.
“Through training, experiential and motivational activities, the educational community will approach Geyser, favoring a structured and diversified proposal,” explained the Adejera Councilor for Education. Among the initiatives that this program will develop, he highlighted projects such as Journalists for a day, Heritage is ours, Toys of yesteryear, Affective-sexual education and the Iguana Project, aimed at raising awareness about people with disabilities and promoting universal accessibility.
