La Orotava awarded the best athletes at the XXI Sports Gala

The Plenary Hall of the La Orotava City Council hosted the XXI Sports Gala on Thursday evening. The event was chaired by Mayor Francisco Linares; the Sports Councilor of the Tenerife Cabildo, Yolanda Moliné, and the sports councilor, Carlos Díaz. There were also other members of the municipal corporation, athletes, representatives of the municipal clubs, friends and family of the nominated athletes and the general public.

This gala pays tribute to the best athletes, clubs and teams in the municipality. In this edition, Athenery Cabeza Pérez (Club Qwan-ki-do) was distinguished as Best Athlete in the female category and Héctor Delgado Hernández (Club Atletismo Orotava. Clator) as Best Athlete in the male category. While the San Isidro Basketball Club, founded in 1967 and the town’s Gold Medalist, received the distinction of Best Club.

The winners of Best Promising Athletes (U16), male and female, respectively, are Nicolás Fuentes Salazar (Taoro Table Tennis) and Olga Gutiérrez Martín (Club Atletismo Orotava)

The Sports Career Recognition went to Jesús Manuel Hernández González (footballer and referee), Domingo Hernández Gutiérrez (basketball) and Hacomar Rodríguez Rodríguez (athlete). Antonio Ramos Villar (mountaineering) received distinction for his sporting career as extraordinary recognition.

The Sports Spirit award went to Daniela Luis Álvarez, an exemplary athlete in inclusive sports in athletics and other disciplines such as surfing, paragliding and mountaineering, for which she has an extensive sports record. She has autism, but for her there are no limits; Her running gives her a lot of freedom.

Mayor Francisco Linares valued sacrifice, self-improvement, teamwork, integration and many other values ​​linked to the world of sports, in addition to promoting a healthy and healthy life. The work and effort of all the athletes and clubs of the municipality is to be appreciated, who are also ambassadors of the town and always leave the name of La Orotava high. They are the best representatives of the municipality. The city council provides maximum support to sport, focusing on grassroots sport, and improving and modernizing the local sports infrastructure.

The gala is a recognition of all those linked to the world of sports in La Orotava, and the best athletes and clubs are represented with these distinctions; It is a way of thanking them for the exemplary work they do each season.
