SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 7 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife invests 3,121,797 euros in the remodeling and improvement works in the Adeje-Arona wastewater pipes, which consist of the replacement of a section of the existing pipes in which leaks had been observed, and the cancellation of one part and replacement by another main part housed in anchor ballasts, followed by two diffuser sections.

The Minister of Sustainable Development, Javier Rodríguez, visited this Friday the placement of the structure together with the councilors of Adeje and Arona, Esther Rivero and Leopoldo Díaz respectively.

“We anticipate that in the short term, treated water will not be discharged through these canals, since it will be used for reuse thanks to the important investments that have been made, such as the expansion of the treatment plant, the desalination of purified water for agriculture or the adequacy of the reclaimed water transport pipe from the treatment plant to Guía de Isora”, pointed out the counselor, who concluded by indicating that “therefore, except in exceptional cases, this infrastructure will only discharge the brine resulting from the rejection of the desalination process”.

Within the operating tasks of these facilities, which are in charge of the Insular Water Council, a monitoring and control program is included.

Rodríguez added that “as a result of the latest inspections carried out for the purpose of evaluating the structural state of the pipelines, various faults were detected that will be resolved with this intervention.”

This channeling is a fundamental element of this system, which allows the evacuation of both the treated wastewater that is not reused, as well as the brine from the seawater desalination process.

The work in progress consists of the placement of more than 500 concrete blocks weighing between eight and 13 tons, on which the new tube will be placed.

The councilor for the Area of Mobility, Works and Services of Adeje, Esther Rivero, indicated that this remodeling of the outfall “is a very beneficial work for both municipalities, because it has a common facility.”

The existing one, he continues, “has been going on for many years and this work is novel and gives us greater security over time, they are facilities that are going to last much longer and with which we will give an outlet to the wastewater plan that we have in the region” .

For his part, the councilor for the Arona Environment area, Leopoldo Díaz, pointed out that “any investment made in the integral water cycle is beneficial for everyone, not only for the municipality as a management but also for the environment” .

In the end, he comments in a note, “what it is about is that all the resources we have and the new technological advances influence the closure of the integral water cycle and that not a single liter is lost in this entire process. and that in the end, with this last tertiary treatment, farmers can also benefit in order to be able to carry out the primary sector”.
