The finalists were Jonay Méndez Martín, with a fantasy by Alfonso Baute entitled Dawon, representing Oroterapias; Jonathan Amaro Galindo Pérez, with Suárez Pesenti’s fantasy La Tentación, representing Alfa de Luna Shop; José Manuel Soriano Hechavarría, dressed by Creaciones de la Rosa with From among the reflections of Proteo, sponsored by Ballet Back to Dance, and Joao Sousa Da Cruz, with the design by Eduardo Martín Quintero entitled The Legend of the Amazon, on behalf of Cash & Carry Julian Hernandez.
The third gala for the election of the King of Carnival will go down in history as the final consolidation of this bet from Porto that began in 2019 with the election of David Mesa from among eight candidates; it continued in 2021 with the reign of Alexis Estrada, chosen from 15 candidates, and is confirmed in 2022 with 14 candidates for the men’s festive title and a growing interest from designers and sponsors. The 2022 Tenerife Carnival King election gala was dedicated to the 90s of the 20th century and included the participation of Jadel, Naomi Reverón, Cristina Ramos, Nalaya Brown, Carlos Baute and various carnival groups.
