SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The National Deputy Secretary for Organisation of the PP, Carmen Fúnez, has lambasted the PSOE for leveraging the discussion on regional financing “to secure the position” of Salvador Illa in the Generalitat of Catalonia.
In statements to the media, the prominent politician emphasised that this is a “critical” discussion as it serves as a mechanism to ensure public services.
Fúnez highlighted that health, social services, dependency, and education rely on regional financing. “Thus, it is a critical discussion that must never be subordinated to the pursuit of seats,” she asserted.
In a context relevant to the Canary Islands, the Vice Secretary of Organisation insisted that the PP will advocate for the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF) because the islands “require it.”
“And what Sánchez has executed with Illa’s seat is not about discussing a special regime for Catalonia, but about granting privileges to the separatists, which harms the rest of the Spaniards,” she concluded.
