SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, July 7. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has notified two cases under study for a possible diagnosis of monkeypox without new positives being registered since yesterday. Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there have been 66 confirmed cases, of which 43 were detected in Gran Canaria and 23 in Tenerife.

All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up from Primary Care.

Thus, the confirmed and notified cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows: 66 confirmed cases, 43 in Gran Canaria and 23 in Tenerife; a probable case, pending confirmation, notified in Fuerteventura; five suspected cases, pending confirmation, two registered in Gran Canaria, one in Tenerife, one in Lanzarote and one in Fuerventura.

The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if it only presents clinical criteria and in such case it is considered a suspected case.
