Brother Charged with Murder and Injury in La Laguna Incident, Held Without Bail

The Investigating Court 1 in San Cristóbal de La Laguna has mandated the provisional detention, communicated without bail, of a 61-year-old man who was apprehended this Friday for the murder of his 67-year-old brother, who was suffering from cancer, and for inflicting severe injuries on his 49-year-old sister at a residence in the municipality of Tenerife.

According to the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands, the judicial authority overseeing the case has provisionally charged him with one count of murder and one count of attempted homicide.

The event is said to have taken place following a familial dispute within a property situated in the Camino La Mina area of La Laguna.

As reported by police sources to Efe, the altercation occurred late this morning at a home where the alleged assailant and his deceased sibling apparently resided.

The 49-year-old sister sustained serious injuries due to a severe blow to the head and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC).
