The Arona Farmer’s Market opened yesterday in Las Galletas, the first time it has done so in its almost five-year history. It is the second location outside its main headquarters, in the San Lorenzo Valley. In this way, this service is provided on alternate Thursdays in the towns of Los Cristianos, on whose coast it has been installed in recent years with the aim of boost your businesspromote the knowledge and sale of local producers and facilitate contact between the tourism and primary sectors.
These same reasons, and at the request of both the zero kilometer producers themselves and the Las Galletas Open Commercial Zoneencouraged the Economic Promotion area to increase the presence of the Farmer’s Market in points of the municipality that promote this link between supply and demand for quality local products.
In this way, the Farmer’s Market opens its doors from now on Fridays and Saturdays in the main facilities of Valle San Lorenzo, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., while on Thursdays It will alternate its activity between Los Cristianos and Las Galletas, remaining operational from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If in the first of these last two locations the stalls are located in the bay area, the premiere in the second takes place on the Rambla Dionisio González.

The Arona Farmer’s Market was born in 2017 with the aim of promoting the local product of the primary sector of the municipality. Since then, it has expanded its activity and has been incorporating novelties, such as free transportation from various areas or open parking in the commercial heart of the Valley, which opens its doors from Monday to Saturday with 72 parking spaces. The market also has an average of half a thousand visitors every weekend, adding up to around 26,000 a year.
The mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, yesterday highlighted the importance “of growing local production, from kilometer zero, the closest and most sustainable, thus supporting the primary sector and commerce and the restoration of the different localities Arona, in this case Las Galletas. Commerce, restaurants and local products are a good way of supporting each other so that the whole of Arona benefits”.
For her part, the councilor for the Economic Promotion area, Raquel García, explained that this initiative “is part of the meetings we have held both with the Las Galletas Open Commercial Zone (ZCA) and with the local producers themselves” attached to the Mercado del Farmer. The mayor indicated that “our producers can benefit from the activity of this town and, at the same time, contribute to the whole of the commercial and restoration field”, of relevance in the municipal economy.
