SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 27 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The government team of the Cabildo de Tenerife has convened an extraordinary plenary session for this Friday – it will be held at the end of the ordinary one – to discuss the situation of the IASS centers once the works council has warned of “very serious” to users.
In statements to journalists, the president, Pedro Martín, commented that “it is not the first complaint” presented by the works council and so far “all” have been won by the corporation, but given “the seriousness” of the accusations “and unfounded” have chosen to convene the session so that the Minister of Social Action, Marian Franquet, reports on the situation.
The deputy for Tenerife and secretary of CC Organization, Rosa Dávila, Rosa Dávila points out in a note that the IASS works council has denounced “the mistreatment of patients due to the current PSOE government team.”
“We are talking about older people, minors, women who are victims of gender-based violence and people with disabilities who are not receiving dignified and adequate treatment,” he says.
Thus it affects that all unions denounce the lack of human resources and lack of material to carry out their work and that “negatively affects the service provided to users and patients, producing unsustainable situations.”
For Dávila, it is “obscene to have to talk about things like they don’t have towels, sheets or running water”, because according to the works council “there are no towels and they clean the elderly with pillowcases, bed linen is missing and they have to put the same
It also denounces that in the centers there is only one person to care for all the minors when the mothers are not there, there is a lack of water and the babies cannot be bathed.
The works council has presented 16 writings between June and September of this year giving an account of the situation of the different centers without obtaining a response from Pedro Martín or Marian Franquet, comments the deputy.
“That has led to an unsustainable situation and from the Canary Coalition we demand that an immediate solution be put in place. We ask that a dialogue be opened with the representatives of the workers, who suffer continuous contempt from the PSOE,” he indicates.
CC-PNC requests that the provision of basic goods and materials be guaranteed for the care of users, both clothing and a stable supply of water in all the centers.
Likewise, it supports the request of the IASS committee to approve the modification of the List of jobs of the IASS workforce agreed with the representation of the workers on April 22, 2022 and approved by the Governing Council on April 28 of July 2022 “without any reduction, or reduction of the vacancies and positions of labor personnel already agreed”.
