Sister from the Betlemite Congregation Prays for Tenerife
Almost in the front row, holding her simple wooden rosary in her hands, the Mother Superior of the Betlemite Sisters, the female branch of the order established by Saint Brother Pedro from Tenerife, today prays for the health of the people of Tenerife before the Virgin of Candelaria.
As soon as the statue of the patroness arrived at the stage located at the Los Llanos pier for the farewell mass of Pope Leon XIV, the religious Irma Cecilia Fuentes opened an umbrella to shield herself from the sun and prayed to La Morenita for all the people of La Laguna.
From Bogotá to Tenerife for the Pope’s Mass
Arriving from Bogotá, Colombia, the global leader of this religious order travelled to the island to attend the Eucharist of thanksgiving officiated by the Pontiff.
“We have spent these days at the home of our brothers in Vilaflor, but last night we stayed at a retreat house in Santa Cruz,” she explained.
Journey to Rome with a Request for Leon XIV
She will now continue her journey to Rome with the Holy Father. The purpose of this trip is to deliver the signatures collected to support the canonisation process of the blessed Guatemalan, María Encarnación Rosales.
“We have several volumes of support and we will attend the audience on the 17th to present them,” she detailed.
