La Cuesta hosted a successful commercial revitalisation day with significant public turnout and citizen participation
The La Laguna Town Council has celebrated the success of the Commercial Discount Show of Las Mantecas, held this Saturday at the Scientific and Technological Park of Las Mantecas, with great citizen participation and a remarkable involvement from the local business community.
Organised by the La Laguna Commercial Business Association (LLZC) and the Federation of Urban Areas of the Canary Islands (FAUCA), the initiative was developed with the support of the La Laguna Town Council, through its Commerce Department, and promoted by the Tenerife Cabildo, via a subsidy for commercial revitalisation actions in urban areas.
The Councillor for Commerce, Estefanía Díaz, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout, stating, “The show has been a success in terms of participation and demonstrates our municipality’s commitment to local commerce. Beyond sales, what we experienced was an encounter between citizens and businesses, allowing us to rediscover the value of the business community in La Cuesta.”
The show took place this past Saturday at the Scientific and Technological Park of Las Mantecas and brought together nearly twenty local establishments, offering the best of their products in a festive and family-friendly atmosphere. Among the activities enjoyed by attendees were live musical performances, a variety of food offerings, and particularly, workshops and children’s activities, which attracted numerous families throughout the day.
Krysten Martín, Island Councillor for Commerce, valued the event as “a demonstration of the Cabildo’s commitment to local commerce, which not only stimulates the economy but also strengthens the social fabric of our neighbourhoods. This day has shown that local commerce has a tremendous connection to its surroundings and that, with the right institutional support, it can become a true engine for development.”
Meanwhile, Abbas Moujir, president of FAUCA, emphasised that “initiatives like this establish La Laguna as a benchmark for commercial revitalisation in the Canary Islands, thanks to the collaboration between institutions and businesses. This model of joint work is key to further strengthening our urban areas.”
Iván Pérez, president of LLZC, thanked the participating businesses for their involvement and stated that “the activity has demonstrated La Cuesta’s potential as a commercial and cultural space. It has been an opportunity for our businesses to connect with new audiences and reinforce their role as the economic engine of the area. We are already working on new actions that will continue to strengthen our business network.”
Such commercial revitalisation efforts not only generate an immediate economic impact but also strengthen the business fabric of the area and revitalise urban spaces. By combining commerce, culture, and leisure, an appealing experience is created that fosters local customer loyalty and attracts new audiences, contributing to the sustainable development of the neighbourhoods, as well as positioning La Laguna as a commercial reference on the island.
