SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 27. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Fundación Canaria Siglo XXI will celebrate the 2nd Summer Campus 2022 in Breña Baja, La Palma, on July 6 and 7, whose program will address issues such as the volcanic and migratory crisis, as well as territorial movements on the state political board.
The national secretary general of the Canarian-PNC Coalition, Fernando Clavijo, pointed to the conference as “an opportunity to open a calm debate with society about the present and the future in strategic areas for the Islands.”
Among the issues addressed, Clavijo pointed to the volcanic crisis and the reconstruction of La Palma, which will play a leading role “for obvious reasons and because there is much to be done for those affected and for the Island and it is important to have an expert vision , professionals and independent people who can give us different points of view”.
For his part, the president of the Fundación Canaria Siglo XXI, Manuel Jorge, pointed out that this path that began last year is “a space to listen and learn”. In this context, he explained that the program of the II Summer Campus, which will open on Wednesday, July 6, “does not want to lose sight of current political issues such as the migratory crisis and the new scenario that is being drawn after the turn of the State in its foreign policy with Morocco”.
For this reason, he advanced that the inaugural conference will address ‘The crisis in the Maghreb and its repercussions in the Canary Islands’ and will be given by Ignacio Cembrero, a journalist specialized in the Maghreb and who has developed part of his professional activity in El Confidencial and El País .
Jorge also added that during the two days of conference “we will not lose sight of the situation in La Palma and the consequences of the volcanic crisis.” To do this, there will be the vision of experts and professionals who will address, among other issues, vocational training to revolutionize employment in the Canary Islands and boost the labor market in La Palma, through the analysis of models such as the one promoted in the Basque Country. .
The challenges of mental health, the reconstruction of La Palma as an opportunity for the development of the island and the management of the volcanic crisis at street level will also be discussed, the latter conference being given by the mayor of El Paso, Sergio Rodríguez, one of the municipalities affected by the volcanic eruption recorded last September.
Finally, during the sessions of the II Summer Campus, ‘The territorial axis as a response to global challenges’ will also be discussed. In this context, the policies and challenges will be addressed in two round tables, the first on territorial movements on the state political board, in which the Secretary General of the Canarian-PNC Coalition, Fernando Clavijo, will participate; the deputy spokesman for the Basque Group in Congress, Mikel Legarda; the PDeCat deputy in Congress, Seri Miquel; the deputy spokesman of the UPL Soria Now! in the Cortes of Castilla y León, José Ángel Ceña, and the president of El Pi-Proposta per les Illes Balears, Tolo Gili.
The second round table on politics will delve into the current political crossroads and future prospects from a territorial point of view and will include the political scientist and journalist, Estefanía Molina, the political scientist and analyst, Nacho Corredor, the historian and politician, Santi Vila and the regional director of Content for Cadena Ser Canarias, Marta Cantero.
As was done in the first edition of the Summer Campus, the conferences can be followed by streaming through the social networks of the Fundación Canarias Siglo XXI and the Canarian Coalition and in person. In both cases, prior registration is necessary, both for professionals and for citizens in general, which can be done from now on www.campuscanarias.com.
