The incidents reported occurred when the victim, who is now of legal age, was just three years old.

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, APR. (Press Europa) –

The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has scheduled the trial this Tuesday against the individual accused of sexually assaulting his then-minor stepdaughter. The public prosecutor is seeking 12 years of imprisonment along with ten years of supervised release. The reported events reportedly commenced when the child was merely three years old.

A restraining order is also being sought against the accused for a duration of ten years, alongside a compensation payment of 600,000 euros to be awarded to the victim.

The prosecutor’s statement indicates that the defendant lived with the victim, who was born in 2006 and is the daughter of his former partner, asserting that since she was a baby, “the defendant was the only father figure she has known.”

The document further states that, taking advantage of this situation, the defendant allegedly subjected the child to various sexual acts, as well as other inappropriate behaviours, including kissing on the mouth, making obscene comments, and exerting controlling influences, all of which led to the victim filing a complaint on 3rd March 2024.

According to the victim, she began experiencing abuse from the age of three.

As a result of the described incidents, the victim has endured issues throughout her childhood such as “low self-esteem, anxiety, and depressive symptoms,” along with self-harming behaviours and suicidal thoughts, all of which have impacted her education and her relationships with others.

Additionally, the minor was diagnosed with “vaginitis and unspecified vulvovaginitis” in October 2010, again with vaginitis in June 2017, and has experienced several instances of vomiting and tachycardia.

The accused is currently held in provisional custody without bail, following an order issued on 8th March 2024, by the Court of Instruction No. 4 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which was upheld by the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in an order dated 14th March 2024.
