The Candelaria City Council has recently launched the new Costa Coast Line, a standard transport service that aims to enhance the mobility of both residents and visitors along the coastal area of the municipality.
This initiative includes a route through the designated parking areas located at La Rambla Los Menceyes, the Municipal Cemetery, and the Cardonera region.
Initially free, this new transport service begins at the car park adjacent to the cemetery and covers a route that encompasses key locations such as Teror Square, Patron Square of the Canary Islands, Constitution Avenue, Maritime Avenue, Rambla Los Menceyes, Neptune Street, and Las Vichas, before returning to the original starting point.
The mayor, Mari Brito from the Socialist Party, stated yesterday that this new transport line “aims to enhance the mobility of residents and guests throughout the coastal area, complementing the six existing on-demand transport lines that connect the Candelaria centre with the medianía region.”
Councilor for Transport, Jorge Baute, noted that the Coast Circular Line will operate daily, including holidays, with the exception of December 25 and January 1. The service will run from 6:45 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.
This project, whose contract spans from April 2025 to March 2026, has been designed according to the needs of the community and features essential stops such as the Basilica, the Health Centre, the City Council building, and the local production market.
The budget allocated for this transport service totals 101,847 euros, of which 2,966.2 euros are attributed to IGIC.
The City Council announced yesterday that, due to construction work on Maritime Avenue, between Guetón Street and Vía Guaja, the current route has been temporarily altered, diverting through Mencey Beneharo Street and Rambla Los Menceyes during the journey to Caletillas.
30,000 travellers per month
Presently, the on-demand transport service in Candelaria offers a 100% discount on fares for frequent users of the public service, which has led to a significant increase in the number of users, rising from 9,000 passengers per month in 2022 to the current 30,000 passengers per month, according to data provided yesterday by the local government.
